The primary focus of the Office of International Development is to facilitate collaborative research projects by providing technical support and assisting faculty and graduate students interested in implementing multi-disciplinary international development projects.

Since its inception, OID has worked with faculty members and graduate students in areas including:

• Identifying the experience, strengths, capacity, and interests that exist within MSU and its faculty and marketing them to bring new international development project opportunities to MSU

• Identifying promising opportunities and facilitating effective responses through multi-disciplinary collaborations across MSU's academic colleges

• Researching information on prospective funding sources and project opportunities

• Highlighting MSU's strengths in the international development arena to the large donor pool of foundations, corporations, and government agencies and developing partnerships with private, public and non-profit organizations around the world

• Providing technical guidance and assistance to MSU departments in the preparation of proposals to international donor organizations

• Compiling and editing proposals

• Maintaining an internal database of MSU faculty with international expertise and those engaged in international research

• Working with Alumni Relations to build a broader network of contacts living abroad
